Clamps - 2k23 Badge Description

Clamps allows defenders have access to quicker cut off moves and are more successful when bumping or hip riding the ball handler.
97 Perimeter Defense
HOF Clamps
HOF Clamps is a must have badge for lockdown players. Having HOF Clamps will make it extremely difficult for anyone to get passed you. Pairing HOF Clamps with other badges such as glove is recommended.
92-86 Perimeter Defense
Gold Clamps
Gold clamps is a great threshold to aim for hybrid defenders. If your build not solely focused on defense this badge will be great at stopping most ball handlers. You may struggle against elite ball handlers but with proper technique and team defense they can be slowed down.
70 Perimeter Defense
Bronze Clamps
Bronze clamps is ok at stopping players with mid to low ball control. It will be a serviceable badge if defense is not the main focus on your build.
Clamps - 2k23 Test Details

We tested Clamps against a variety of different ball handlers. Each level of Clamps was tested against various levels of Clamp Breaker along with different ball control attribute thresholds. We looked at three separate data points such as the blow by, hip ride, and clamp animations to calculate the effectiveness of Clamps. We also calculated the cutoff speed of different levels of clamps. We did this by measuring the frames of cutoff animations at each clamps badge level.

Clamps - 2k23 Test Results

The test results show that HOF clamps will make it extremely difficult for ball handlers to get past you. The cutoff speed is also very fast at 31 frames. Silver is the best budget level for clamps. It is very effective at stopping gold and below clamp breaker. The chart shown here shows the clamped and hip ride animations percentage at each Clamps badge level compared to various clamp breaker badge levels.

Badge Unlock Table Details

This table shows how many attribute points you need in order to unlock a badge at the level in the header. If a badge is a Tier 1 badge you do not need any attributes in order to unlock the badge at a bronze level. If its Tier 2 or 3, you will need to meet the attribute threshold to unlock the badge. If there is more than one attribute listed, you only need to meet the threshold on one of the attributes, not multiple.
