Bail Out

Bail Out badge-details
The Bail Out badge isn't meant to be a crutch mechanic, and it seems like 2K doesn't want a ton of these passes flying around. But if you do want to bail out of jump shots, you'll need to invest heavily into pass accuracy to be effective.Tier Unlocks by Height

Bail Out
Passing out of a jump shot or layup yields fewer errant passes than normal. Additionally, helps passing out of double teams.
Your playstyle involves throwing bail out passes.
Silver+
Ideally get at least Silver or Gold and use a badge perk to boost it.Bail Out test-details
To test Bail out we attempted 200 bailout passes at each badge level with an 85 pass accuracy and then recorded every catch and then we categorized it into clean catches and fumble catches. Also, we did the same test but we focused on each badge unlock requirement.
Bail Out test-results
Bail Out Catch Percentages Tested at 85 Pass Accuracy on HoF Difficulty:
Clean Catch %
- Legend = 64.5%
- HoF = 54%
- Gold = 43.5%
- Silver = 30%
- Bronze = 22.5%
- None = 3.5%
Fumble Catch %
- Legend = 14.5%
- HoF = 16%
- Gold = 21%
- Silver = 23.5%
- Bronze = 22%
- None = 19%
Total Catch %
- Legend = 79%
- HoF = 70%
- Gold = 64.5%
- Silver = 53.5%
- Bronze = 44.5%
- None = 22.5%
Bronze is twice as good as no badge by nearly doubling the total catch percentage. However, the clean catch rate with Bronze only sits at about 23%, which still makes for some risky passes.
At Silver, the clean catch rate jumps to 30% with a total catch percentage of almost 54%. With Silver, you should be able to throw some decent bailout passes, but it's still not guaranteed.
Gold seems to be the sweet spot if you're looking to throw effective bail out passes, as the total catch rate jumps to 65% with a clean catch rate of 44%.
Since this test was done at an 85 pass accuracy for all badge levels. The results gives a good idea of how effective a max plus one or two can be when applied to your bailout badge. Hall of Fame and Legend levels provide 54 and 65% clean catches, respectively, with a total catch rate of 70% plus for each.
Bail Out Catch Percentages Tested at Badge Unlock Requirement on HoF Difficulty:
Clean Catch %
- Legend = 69%
- HoF = 57%
- Gold = 45.5%
- Silver = 31%
- Bronze = 22.5%
- None = 3.5%
Fumble Catch %
- Legend = 17.5%
- HoF = 17%
- Gold = 22%
- Silver = 22%
- Bronze = 22%
- None = 19%
Total Catch %
- Legend = 86.5%
- HoF = 74%
- Gold = 67.5%
- Silver = 53%
- Bronze = 44.5%
- None = 22.5%
Now, we also ran the same test, but we tested at each badge unlock requirement. The boost for having the higher pass accuracy were noticeable at higher badge levels, but still didn't seem to justify the cost of having a 94 plus.
