Challenger Badge in 2K26

What does Challenger Badge do in NBA 2K26?

video-transcript:
What is good everyone and welcome to the NBA 2K lab. In this video, we'll be looking at the challenger badge and the effectiveness at each level. We ran a couple different tests to give you an idea of different scenarios when it comes to this badge. And I'm not going to waste your time. So, of course, like the video and subscribe if you find this information useful. And let's get right into it. For this test, we had a defender with 75 perimeter defense and 75 block contest an offensive player with a 92 three-point rating. Something to note is that we also tested higher perimeter and block in the same scenarios with hands up and it only provided a slight boost if any at all. So testing this way can show us the value of each badge level regardless of your rating. Now for our first test, we looked at lighter contests anywhere from about 5 to 10%. Something to keep in mind is that the challenger badge does not give better contest percentages, but it does improve contest effectiveness. And looking at the results for light contest, bronze and silver provide marginal results, and the gold level starts to shrink the green window slightly. But as you get to the Hall of Fame and legend levels, you should start to feel more effective contest and see more missed shots. Nonetheless, each badge level sees a linear reduction in average make percentage of about 3% per badge level. And this year in NBA 2K26, contests are already hard to come by. But if you want more stops on the perimeter, a higher badge level like Hall of Fame or Legend may be necessary, especially against better players. When we look at the heavier contests, the average make percentages become much tighter as it appears heavier contests are more weighted by the contest percentage than the badge alone. But still, we can see anywhere from a 2 to 3% dip in average make percentage per badge level. Once again, Hall of Fame and legend levels show peak make percentages of about 40% and under, showing the importance of higher badge levels to get more effective contests. Now, it's tough to determine a sweet spot for this badge. But since we tested at a 75 perimeter and block rating, it highlights the significance of using max plus ones and plus twos, as each badge level, regardless of attribute rating, lowers average make percentage by anywhere from 2 to 3% per. The bronze level is of course nice to have and it doesn't cost much, but silver or gold seem fairly solid as it allows you to use your plus one or two to get to those higher levels. Now, if you're a defensive-minded player, you may want those higher attribute ratings regardless, and targeting Hall of Fame is probably your best bet without overspending. Now, that is all we have for the Challenger badge test. Don't forget to drop a like if you found this video helpful.
